Where are you located?

We are on the 8th floor of the main Maccabi branch in Rishon Lezion, 15 Rotchild St. There is a city-operated parking lot on 20 HaCarmel St.

I have an upcoming consultation with Dr. Shames. What should I bring with me?

Please bring with you the results of any tests and consultations performed outside of Maccabi. In addition please bring any walking assist devices such as braces, canes, or walkers that are needed for basic mobility as part of the examination.

Should someone come with me?

You can have one additional person accompany you into the doctor's office if you wish. If you have difficulty communicating because of language or speech or need physical assistance with mobility, it is advisable to bring someone with you.

How long is the consultation?

You will be in the clinic for approximately 1 hour. Please arrive on time and plan adequate additional time for parking and finding the office. Dr Shames will take a full medical history, including past illnesses, the present problem, medications, your day to day functioning, and review your tests. The physical examination will include a musculoskeletal examination of the joints, tendons and muscles. Your walking ability will also be assessed. In addition, a focused neurological exam will be performed, as well as a brief cognitive screening if needed.

Will the doctor give me a report?

The doctor will provide you with a summary report of the visit, and will send a letter to your referring doctor. In addition, Dr Shames will give you any referrals and prescriptions related to the visit. Please note that Dr Shames will not provide routine medications which are managed by your family doctor.

Does Dr Shames give referrals for medical cannabis?

Recommendations for cannabis are NOT given in our clinic at this time. Please confer with your pain specialist regarding this.

Is there any payment for the visit?

No, Dr Shames accepts Maccabi patients as part of the Maccabi network. Dr Shames does not accept private patients at this time.
